Periodontal assessment

Periodontal assessment plays a central role and is the cornerstone of our periodontal approach. It enables us to prevent and identify periodontal diseases so that they can be treated.

Why have a periodontal checkup?

The periodontal assessment allows the dentist to identify during the consultation whether the gums are infected by examining a sample of dental plaque under a microscope, which enables a diagnosis of periodontal disease to be made.

Curing periodontal disease is a prerequisite for many types of dental treatment, including implantology, orthodontics, and the fitting of dentures, which must be done on healthy periodontal tissue.

If a condition is diagnosed, the practitioner will develop a targeted and personalized treatment plan.

The periodontal assessment is therefore used to identify the health of the entire periodontium in order to recommend the appropriate treatment, if necessary.

The periodontal examination process

The periodontal examination is carried out in several stages:

  • Interview with the patient: this helps to identify their medical history, risk factors, and fears.
  • Examination of dental plaque under an optical microscope: this allows any pathogenic bacteria to be identified immediately. This examination is carried out by the practitioner during the consultation and the results are available immediately.
  • Provision of a report and a customized quote: this informs the patient about the nature of the treatment to be followed if necessary.

The equipment used for periodontal assessment

We use state-of-the-art equipment to ensure our patients receive a comprehensive, accurate, and painless examination. This includes a microscope, which allows us to identify pathogenic bacteria, and, if necessary, optical glasses, which improve visibility during the consultation.

Is a periodontal examination painful?

Our procedures are performed with a view to maximizing patient comfort.

The expertise of our exclusive periodontists allows us to perform a completely painless periodontal assessment. This simply involves removing dental plaque and does not require anesthesia.

The results of the periodontal examination

After the periodontal assessment, the practitioner will be able to identify the condition of the periodontium, the presence of bacteria, and any diseases such as gingivitis or periodontitis. Patients can follow the examination if they wish, thanks to a screen that displays the microscope image.

The expertise of the Sana Oris team allows you to maintain your dental health in the long term thanks to personalized care, high-end equipment, and medical expertise.
