Stomatology / Oral Surgery

Oral surgery or dentistry is a medical-surgical specialty. It deals with most conditions affecting the bones and mucous membranes of the mouth. In particular, it treats impacted teeth (canines, wisdom teeth), cysts, and the placement of dental implants.

Why seek dental treatment?

Dental treatment may be referred by a general dentist or performed at the patient's request.

This act covers specific oral surgery techniques, such as:
dental implants;

  • single or multiple tooth extractions, including wisdom teeth;
  • cysts and tumors of the jaws;
  • lesions and pathologies of the oral mucosa;
  • gum disease, periodontology;
  • jaw joint disorders using orthotics and rehabilitation;
  • sleep apnea using corrective orthotics.

We have several practitioners trained in these specific techniques and skills.

The different types of oral surgery treatments

Before proceeding with dental treatment, it is necessary to perform a periodontal assessment in several stages:

  1. Consultation with the practitioner to identify your medical history, brushing habits, risk factors, concerns, etc.;
  2. Clinical examination for a dental, aesthetic, and functional study of the entire oral cavity
  3. Provision of a report informing you about the nature of the procedure that has been performed and the necessary dental treatment, accompanied by a customized quote.

In the vast majority of cases, local anesthesia is sufficient.

Wisdom tooth extraction

The dentist may need to extract wisdom teeth, particularly when there is not enough space for them to grow properly, when they are unable to break through the gum (impacted or semi-impacted molars), or when they are causing an infection.

Implantology

Oral surgery may be involved in the placement of dental implants. This implant procedure involves placing a dental implant made of a titanium screw into the bone, which is then covered with a ceramic crown, replicating the appearance and function of the original tooth.

Oral tumors

Oral tumors are abnormal proliferative masses. The stomatologist may remove a tumor even if it is benign, as it may be bothersome or injured.

Postoperative effects of oral surgery

Post-operative effects and their duration vary considerably depending on the type of procedure and the individual. In the days following the procedure, swelling and pain related to post-operative inflammation may occur (in the case of deep and impacted wisdom tooth extraction).
The stomatologist may then prescribe antibiotics and anti-inflammatory drugs to reduce the risk of post-operative infection or inflammation. At our clinic, providing pain management tailored to each individual is one of our priorities.

The results of oral surgery treatment

Our team of oral surgery specialists works closely with referring dental surgeons to provide comprehensive care for patients and their various conditions.

The results of dental treatments at our facility show very high satisfaction rates, thanks in particular to the efficiency and quality of the work carried out by our prosthetics laboratory.

It is necessary to schedule regular checkups with your dentist or stomatologist, at least once a year. The long-term results of the treatment depend greatly on regular follow-up and good oral hygiene habits.

The cost of dental treatment

The cost of oral surgery treatments depends on the type of procedure performed. Your stomatologist and their team will provide you with a price quote after your initial consultation. You will always receive a personalized estimate.
